Belt Drive1

BELT DRIVE COMPRESSOR
This compressor type is known as belt drive. Belt driven compressors are usually mounted onto a receiver which acts as a storage tank for the compressed air. The pump is driven by the power source (in this case a motor) via a flywheel. The fly wheel has two purposes. Firstly to transmit the rotation from the motor at a geared down speed to the pump. And secondly, to act as a cooling fan for the pump and inter / after coolers.

The benefit of belt driven compressors is primarily they can offer a greater free air delivery, and are more durable for industrial applications.
